AVDA Report: Presenting the University of Industrial Distribution

AVDA is proud to offer a variety of training and educational opportunities both in-person and online. One of the most popular in-person training offerings is the University of Industrial Distribution (UID). UID is a concentrated educational program focused on the unique needs of wholesale distributors. Known worldwide for excellence in education, UID is sponsored by the leading distribution professional associations, in cooperation with the Industrial Distribution Program and Indiana University/Purdue University (IUPUI). Now in its 18th year, the next session of UID will be offered March 7-10, 2011 at IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind. Full details about registration can be found at www.univid.org.
The UID program is distinctive because it is specific for distributors and manufacturers going to market through distribution, and attendees can tailor their learning to their specific needs by choosing from among 30 sessions offered covering the field of distribution. Outstanding instructors from the world of wholesale distribution and sales like Tom Reilly, Al Bates, Mike Marks, Bill McCleave, Jim Pancero, Joe Ellers and Bruce Merrifield make this a world-class training program that appeals to all sectors of the wholesale distribution supply channel.
The unique “track” format of the program offers something for every business professional: CEOs, Branch Managers, Sales and Marketing Managers, Purchasing Managers, Sales Personnel, Human Resources Directors, Operations Managers, Inventory Managers, Training Managers or anyone looking for an opportunity to improve personal performance and/or the company’s bottom line.
Hundreds of distribution and manufacturing professionals have attended the UID over the years and equally rave about the quality of the courses and the high value return for their dollar investment. Recent AVDA member attendees included employees from Webster Veterinary Supply and Novartis Animal Health. Also, because AVDA is a co-sponsor of UID, AVDA members receive a registration discount of nearly $500.
A professional certification in Industrial Distribution is also available to UID participants. Awarded by Purdue University, this professional certificate recognizes an individual’s achievement and commitment to continuing education. Past UID attendance can be applied toward this certification. To earn a Professional Certificate of Industrial Distribution, individuals must accumulate 9 CEUs (90 contact hours of continuing education), with a minimum of 6 CEUs (60 contact hours) being earned attending a University of Industrial Distribution (UID).
