Midmark names Bourne director of sales, veterinary division

Midmark Corporation announced the promotion of Matt Bourne to the position of director of sales for the company’s Veterinary Division, effective July 1. In his new role, Bourne will lead Midmark’s veterinary sales and clinical specialist team, and will be responsible for all North American sales of its veterinary products. He will report to Mike Walker, vice president and general manager, Veterinary Division. Bourne has been a valuable Midmark player for more than 13 years, most recently holding the position of Midwest regional manager for Midmark’s medical products – a role he held since 2006. Prior to that, he was a territory sales representative for medical products for nine years, covering Alabama and Georgia. In addition, he was the 2008 regional manager of the year for Midmark’s Medical Division. Bourne graduated from The Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S. in management. He will continue to reside in Dublin, Ohio.

VCA Antech, PET DRx announce merger

VCA Antech, Inc., an animal healthcare company in the United States, and PET DRx Corporation, a provider of veterinary primary care and specialized services to companion animals, announced the signing of definitive transaction agreements pursuant to which PET DRx will be acquired by VCA Antech. PET DRx operates 23 animal hospitals with annual revenue of approximately $64 million. Bob Antin, Chairman and CEO of VCA Antech, Inc., stated, “I am very pleased with the combination of the two companies. Both companies have hospitals in the California market, with a presence in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, San Diego, Sacramento, and Coachella Valley. The combination will allow the hospitals to share valuable medical and management capabilities with a continuing focus on delivering the highest quality of veterinary care.” Gene Burleson, Chairman and CEO of PET DRx, stated, “In these challenging economic times, I am pleased that the value of our business was recognized by a leader in our space for the benefit of all of our shareholders. This combination will also provide an expanded platform of services for our patients and enhanced opportunities for our employees.” On completion of the merger, the combined companies will operate more than 520 animal hospitals in 40 states. The merger agreement was unanimously approved by the VCA Antech and PET DRx Boards of Directors.

scil announces internal promotions

scil animal care company, inc., announced three new internal promotions. scil employees Mike Gilliland, Heather Sabyan, and Rob Twyning have accepted promotions and are poised to meet the challenges of augmenting scil partnerships, increasing sales and furthering company brand awareness, the company said. Gilliland has been promoted to Key Accounts Manager and brings over 10 years of veterinary industry experience to this new position. Sabyan has been promoted to scil’s Marketing and Communications Manager and brings many years of company branding, design expertise and marketing strategy to her new role. Twyning has been promoted to scil’s National Sales Manager and brings many successful years in the industry as scil’s top-selling Territory Manager.

Elanco dedicates new headquarters

Elanco, a unit of Eli Lilly and Co, dedicated a new headquarters complex in Greenfield, Ind. The unit will be home to about 350 workers, but has room to grow, according to the company. John C. Lechleiter, chairman and chief executive officer of Lilly, has said he wants to expand in the $19 billion market for pet and farm-animal medicines, possibly doubling sales.
